Frequently asked questions
The ones I get asked most
If your question is not here, ask me. Tell me what you're dreaming about and what is making you hesitate on moving forward. I would rather answer your real questions than make you hunt for answers.
Every answer is one click. Or open them all at once.
Working with me
Why should I work with a travel advisor?
Because booking a trip and designing a trip are not the same thing.
A booking site can give you a room, a flight, or a cabin. I build the trip around the people taking it: what you love, how you travel, what pace feels good, what needs to be easy, and which details could make or break the experience. Then I handle the research, the reservations, the supplier calls, the special requests, and the itinerary itself.
I also keep working after your deposit is paid. A promotion changes, a room request needs a follow-up, a flight is disrupted, or something is not what it should be when you arrive: you have someone who steps in and handles it. That is the difference between a true plan and a stack of confirmation emails.
Do you only work with clients who have accessibility needs?
No. I plan for families, couples, groups, honeymooners, cruisers, theme park lovers, and anyone who wants a vacation planned with care.
Accessibility is how I plan, not for whom I plan. I pay attention to pace, room location, transportation, dining, sensory load, sleep, downtime, and the small things that decide whether a trip feels like rest or like work. That matters for disabled and neurodivergent travelers. It also makes a better week for grandparents, toddlers, tired parents, picky eaters, and anyone who would rather enjoy their trip than manage it.
Do I have to share a diagnosis to work with you?
Never.
You do not need to explain, prove, or label anything. I need to know what works for your party, what does not, and what can send a day sideways. Tell me what you know: "He cannot do a 45-minute line." "She needs food before she gets hangry." "My mom can walk, but not from one end of a theme park to the other." "We need a quiet place to reset."
Those are the details that make a plan work. A diagnosis may be part of your story. It is never a requirement.
How do I know if we are a good fit?
I keep my client list small intentionally, because bespoke planning cannot be done in bulk.
Every trip is designed around the people taking it: how you travel, what each person needs, what would make it worth the investment, and what will make it extraordinary. That takes research, supplier follow-up, and the kind of attention that turns up experiences nobody else would have thought to plan for you. I would rather do that exceptionally well for a limited number of clients than run a business purely on volume.
My clients are usually busy people. Professionals who do not have evenings to spare. The family member who somehow became responsible for getting three generations from four cities, with five different sets of needs, to the same villa at the same time. They are glad to pay for the ease of having a professional handle it, because it shrinks their vacation to-do list to one step: contact me.
We are likely a fit if you enjoy elevated services, curated experiences, and are looking for more than just reservations. Maybe you are planning a multigenerational vacation, a milestone celebration, a destination event, a honeymoon, or a trip with mobility, sensory, dietary, medical, or communication considerations. Perhaps no one in your party has a specific need, but you are tired of being the person expected to research, organize, decide, and troubleshoot every detail.
The discovery call is where we both find out.
Is my information kept private?
Yes, and not as a throwaway policy line.
I have spent more than 20 years in roles where discretion was the baseline, working with families whose names you would recognize and families who simply value their privacy. Every one of my clients gets that same care. Your travel dates, party details, health information, family circumstances, and reasons for the trip are shared only with the suppliers who need them to do their jobs. Nothing is ever posted, shared, or used as a client story without your written permission.
If you have specialized privacy considerations, such as booking under a different contact, communicating through an assistant, or limiting what is shared with individual travelers in your party, tell me and it gets built into the plan.
Fees and cost
Is there a fee for your planning services?
Planning for Disney, Universal, cruises, and all-inclusive resorts of up to two rooms or cabins is included at no additional cost. Suppliers build advisor commission into their pricing whether you use an advisor or not, so you may as well have it working for you.
Trips with three or more rooms or cabins, custom itineraries built from scratch, and larger or more complex parties carry a trip design fee of $250 to $750, depending on scope. Group travel such as reunions, weddings, corporate incentives, and celebrations are quoted separately after we talk. My full schedule is on the Services page.
Accessibility planning is never a surcharge. Not at any tier, not on any trip. Ever.
Does it cost more to book with you? I usually book our travel online.
Usually, no. I have access to the same public pricing you see online, plus supplier promotions and advisor-only offers that do not typically reach consumer sites.
More to the point, I compare the whole value of the trip, not the first price you see. The cheapest room is not a deal if it is in the wrong location, lacks the features you need, adds expensive transportation, or turns the week into a series of compromises.
I also keep watching promotions after you book. If a better offer comes along before travel and your reservation qualifies, I apply it. You should not have to catch every price change yourself.
Then there is what you get back: your evenings. The hours you would have spent researching, comparing, planning, and worrying about every detail are yours again, and the peace of mind of knowing a professional is handling all of it is priceless. Your vacation starts with the first inquiry, not at the airport.
Do I need travel insurance?
Every proposal I send includes a travel protection quote. You can decline it if you wish, but I will not leave it off, because it protects the money you have invested when real life ignores the itinerary.
A child wakes up with strep the morning of the flight. A grandparent is hospitalized the week before departure. Someone breaks a wrist at the pool on day two, gets sick on a cruise, or has to fly home early. Depending on the policy, travel protection can help with cancellation costs, interruption expenses, emergency medical care, and transportation home.
Then there are the disruptions nobody plans around: weather, airline outages, closed airspace. For example, earlier in 2026, military activity and temporary airspace restrictions connected to Venezuela led to widespread Caribbean flight cancellations and stranded travelers. Standard policies can have real limits around military activity, travel advisories, or simply changing your mind, which is why I bring up Cancel For Any Reason coverage when the trip, destination, or timing makes it worth considering.
For travelers with medical needs, the pre-existing condition waiver can matter more than the price of the policy. It usually has a short window after your first trip payment, and I will make sure you know the deadline before it closes.
Coverage always depends on the exact policy, when you buy it, and the nature of your claim. I have strong relationships with several of the top travel insurance suppliers, who are happy to answer all of your questions and will tell you plainly what a plan does and does not cover so you can make an informed choice.
Trips
What kinds of travel do you plan?
I plan bespoke itineraries from honeymoons to multigenerational reunions and all of life's moments in between. Every access need, every family configuration.
- Disney, Universal and theme parks
- Ocean and river cruises
- Resorts and all-inclusives
- Private villas and rentals
- International journeys
- Adventures and expeditions
- Wellness and spa
- Destination events
- Group travel
The common thread is not the destination. It is planning built around the specific people traveling. A Disney week where grandparents, toddlers, teens, and parents all truly enjoy their time together. A river cruise with shore excursions chosen for the actual travelers in the group. A resort stay where the room, transportation, dining, and daily pace are already handled before you land.
I plan for travelers looking for outstanding service and personalization. I bring particular depth to mobility, sensory, dietary, medical, and communication considerations because I know which details need to be settled before travel, not after a problem shows up. These are not mutually exclusive.
Can you help me with flights only?
Standalone flights are not a service I offer.
When I plan a full trip, such as a cruise, resort stay, package, or international itinerary, I am happy to include your flight bookings. That way the timing, transfers, hotel, and every other reservation work together, with one person tracking the whole picture.
I already have a reservation, or a quote from someone else. Can you still help?
Often, yes.
Many Disney direct reservations can be transferred to an advisor within a limited time after booking and before final payment, under Disney's current transfer conditions. Several cruise lines have transfer programs too, with rules and deadlines that vary by line. Once a booking is mine, I take over the planning: supplier requests, room notes, dining, transportation, and the rest of the trip.
A quote from another advisor or a booking site is different. I will not undercut someone else's work, and I cannot see what they built. What I can do is create a fresh proposal for the same kind of trip, based on your priorities, so you can compare for yourself.
Can you arrange a scooter, wheelchair, stroller, crib, or other equipment rentals?
Yes. When the destination and supplier allow it, I coordinate rentals for both childcare and medical needs such as cribs, strollers, mobility scooters, wheelchairs, walkers, and other durable medical equipment through partners who deliver to hotels, resorts, and select ships and ports.
What is possible depends on the destination, the ship or resort, and the equipment itself. I confirm delivery timing, storage, room or cabin fit, and any supplier rules around third-party equipment before you rely on any of it. You should not spend your pre-trip evenings finding out whether a rental company can get through the port gate. I already know.
How far ahead should I reach out?
Sooner is always easier, especially for the rooms, cabins, dining times, and promotions that disappear first.
For Disney, holiday travel, and popular cruises, 9 to 12 months. For international and custom itineraries, 6 to 9 months. For a resort week, 4 to 6 months is usually workable. If your dates are closer, ask anyway. I will tell you what is realistic and what is still worth considering.
Please note that trips with a design fee that begin within 60 days carry a rush fee, because the same work still has to happen in a much shorter window.
Do you work with clients outside Pennsylvania?
Yes. I work with clients across the United States and Canada, and planning happens by phone, video, email, and whatever tools work best for you. Where you live matters much less than where you are going and when.
If you are based outside the US or Canada, feel free to reach out and we can talk through what is possible.
Process
How involved can I be in the planning?
As involved as you want to be.
Some clients want to compare every dining option and see each piece of the plan come together. Others tell me what they love and what they will not tolerate, then hand over the logistics. Both are typical, and switching halfway through is typical too. It's your vacation, done your way.
Won't it be faster to book it myself through a booking site or a big-box store?
Think about remodeling a house. You would not pick the layout, the materials, and the contractors off a DIY site. Your vacation deserves the same standard.
A booking engine can show you a room category and a price. It cannot tell you which resort suits how your group actually travels, which restaurant timing makes sense after a long park day, which room is worth the upgrade and which is not, or what to do when the plan changes on day three. It cannot call a supplier on your behalf, hold a request in writing, or notice that the "available" room is on the wrong side of the property for your party. That level of service is my specialty, and it is not one a website replicates.
Access is part of that standard because it is central to how I live: I am a neurodivergent mom of twins, a teacher of the Deaf/DeafBlind by training, and the partner and parent of disabled and neurodivergent folks. I know the difference between what's technically "accessible" and what's actually workable. I plan for it whether or not anyone in your party has specific accessibility needs because it results in a better, more personalized trip.
What happens after I send an inquiry?
- I read your inquiry and reply within two business days.
- We schedule a discovery call, about 30 minutes, to talk through who is traveling, what you want from the trip, what each person needs, and what a good day looks like for everyone.
- You receive up to three options, side by side with pricing and the details that matter, so you can compare without drowning in choices.
- You choose. I handle the booking and build the details around it: requests, reservations, transportation, dining, and experiences.
- I confirm every request in writing with each supplier, get you ready to travel, and stay reachable while you are away.
What happens if something goes wrong while I'm traveling?
You message me.
A flight cancels, a room is not what was confirmed, a transfer is late, a scooter does not arrive: I step in with the supplier. You should not spend your vacation on hold, explaining the situation from scratch, or figuring out who owns the problem.
I cannot control the weather, airline operations, or every surprise travel delivers. What I can do is know your trip, know the right contacts, and push for the outcome you need. That is the difference between having reservations and having a concierge travel advisor in your corner.
Who is Key to the World Travel?
I am an independent travel advisor affiliated with Key to the World Travel. You work directly with me, always. I design your trip, I answer your messages, and I am the one who knows why your mother needs the room near the elevator. You will never wait on hold with a call center explaining your trip from the beginning to someone who has never heard of you.
Behind me is an award-winning agency with extensive supplier relationships, industry accreditation, direct lines to the people who can say "yes," and one of the most respected accessible travel teams in the industry. When I need a contact, a policy answer, or a second opinion on a ship I have not sailed, resort I have not visited, or a supplier I have yet to work with, I typically have it the same day.
Booking with me, you get both: the reach and preferred supplier relationships of a large agency, and the professional expertise and bespoke trip design of a concierge advisor who is focused on your family.
